6 New Facts About The Space For You

Who doesn’t love to be knowledgeable about all the new facts surfacing about space? Mostly all of us who love to look at the stars and wonder about its vastness. As we know very little about space, it has a mystery of its own, and new facts excite us.

Some things that we know are completely mind-boggling. Here are some new facts that are surely going to blow your mind. Now every time you will look up to the stars, you will be wowed.

1. Space And Silence – One Of The New Facts

To traverse the sound from one place to another, we need some medium. But in the atmosphere, there is the only a vacuum of space. It will make the realm between the stars unnaturally silent always. When there is air pressure in the atmosphere, it will allow the sound to travel. That’s why there is noise on Earth’s and other planet’s atmosphere.

2. Neutron Stars Spin Up To 600 Rotations Each Second

Neutron stars are possible evolutionary high mass stars end-points. These stars take birth during the core-collapse of supernova star explosion. As a consequence of physics, they start to rotate extremely fast. Just after the birth, the neutron stars rotate at 60 times per second. In special circumstances, the speed increases to over 600 times in each second.

3. Uncountable Stars In Our Known Universe

No one knows about the exact number of stars in this universe. What we do right now is, estimate the number of stars present in our Milky Way. After that, we just make a guess estimation of galaxies and multiplying with star numbers to get an idea of the number of stars present in the entire space. After doing many mathematical calculations, NASA now says that there are zillions of uncountable stars in the universe. Yes, a zillion because you don’t know exact numbers.

4. Footprints On Moon To Stay For Nearly 100 Million Years

As the moon doesn’t have any atmosphere, it contents no water or wind to wash away or destroy the footprints of Apollo astronauts’ on the moon. It means the spaceship prints, rover-prints, footprints, and all scraped materials will be on the moon’s surface for almost 100 million years.

However, those elements won’t stay for all time though. Micrometeorites constantly bombard on the moon, so just that the erosion is happening slowly.

5. 99% Mass Of Solar System Is Our Sun

Our sun is very dense and it alone has 99% of the mass in our solar system. This allows our sun to dominate over all planets in this solar system with the gravitational force. Sun is a main-sequence star of G-type. That means every second it merges helium with 600 million tons of the hydrogen gas. As a byproduct, it converts approximately 4 million tons matter to complete energy. When the sun ends, it will engulf our Earth and all other planets into it. There is still time for that though, so don’t worry.

6. More Energy Comes But Earth Use Very Little

Don’t get confused about seeing the subheading. Telling you the reason. For the last 15 years, the usage of solar energy has boosted at a 20% rate per year. In 2017, there is another 30% hike on solar energy capacity. So, in 2018, the production of solar energy was 68.9 gigawatts. It may seem like huge quantity, but it’s only 0.7% of all the annual electricity usage. What is more surprising is, with the energy, the sun hits our planet each hour is way lesser than what we use in a year.
