Acrisius, the grandfather of Perseus, tried to kill him and Danae because of a prophecy, which stated that the son of Danae would kill Acrisius. So, Acrisius was so scared of the prophecy, that he locked Danae and Perseus in a trunk and threw it in the ocean. In this situation, Zeus entered and saved his son and wife. He then took them to the king of Seriphus Polydectes.

He fought Medusa, who had mystical powers of turning people into stone with just her gaze. Perseus killed her and also brought her severed head with him. Then Perseus began his journey towards Seriphus. He encountered there an Ethiopian princess Andromeda. Perseus then saved Andromeda from a vicious sea monster, and evidently ended marrying Andromeda.
